Located in Kunshan City in eastern China's Jiangsu Province, the park is home to more than eight ponds of varying sizes that adjust their water levels with the seasons, with the wetland area covering 63.62 percent of the entire park. Combined with efforts to restore farmland in surrounding agricultural areas, the park has greatly boosted regional biodiversity, providing habitats for a wide range of bird species throughout the year.

In July this year, Suzhou was officially accredited as an "International Wetland City" during the opening of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP15) in Zimbabwe – joining eight other cities in China in receiving the honor.
